Patty Gill is an experienced and accomplished employment litigator, counselor and labor relations attorney.  She has represented management in all aspects of labor and employment law for more than 17 years.


The goal of Patty’s practice is to minimize legal risks for her clients and avoid lawsuits. She proactively counsels employers on the best practices in employee relations issues, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, proper classification of workers, independent contractors, and compliance with federal and state laws.


Patty routinely handles difficult performance problems and high-risk terminations.  She guides companies through restructurings, reductions in force, and mergers/acquisitions.  She regularly drafts and negotiates employment agreements, non-disclosure/non-compete/non-solicitation agreements, and severance agreements.  Patty has conducted dozens of workplace investigations and has favorably resolved a multitude of disputes with employees before lawsuits were filed.  She has extensive experience advising clients on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Worker Adjustment Retraining and Notification Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, National Labor Relations Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and Americans With Disabilities Act Amendments Act.


Prior to forming PATTY GILL PLC, Patty spent 9 years at the international law firm of Hunton & Williams LLP as part of the firm’s Labor & Employment Team where she was promoted to Counsel.  Patty successfully litigated dozens of employment lawsuits and labor arbitrations.  She worked in the Dallas, Texas and Richmond, Virginia offices.

Patty is a University of Virginia graduate. She obtained her B.A. in History, with distinction, in 1995 and was selected for Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her J.D. in 1998, also from UVA.  She is admitted to both the Virginia and Texas State Bars.


Patty is a past member of the Board of Directors of the YWCA of Richmond, which supports and promotes stability for victims of domestic violence and their children, and a current Board member of the ToolBank of Richmond, which loans tools to non-profits, churches and schools in the Greater Richmond area at almost no cost to them. She resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and their three children.
